i purchased a 2010 CAAD9 in feb 2010.

i purchased the caad9-6 with the tiagra group so i can start riding and slowly upgrade.

i have upgraded everything up to the crankset, just bought the hollowgram si sl set and noticed that even though the downtube says BB30, the BB shell is still standard sized.

it is standard bb shell size, threaded, and too small to receive the bb30 bearings.

what gives? is this a defect?

aren't all 2010CAAD9's supposed to able accept bb30 parts?

Is it possible that they installed and adapter to allow it to take the Tiagra crankset?

Cannondale specs that bike as having a tiagra bottom bracket with adapter on their webpage

you have a PM, but I think you know that already.

For the record in case anyone else pulls this up later, Cannondale recognizes that the CAAD9-6 (as the entry level model and the only model using a Shimano crank) received the last of the English BB frames but these were unfortunately mislabeled. Contact them if it is a serious issue for you. I had this concern but ultimately had my BB30 SRAM crank swapped out for a GXP one instead of waiting for an entirely new frame.
