Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Found this ad on my local Cincy Craigslist. I really want to be a smartass about his "conversion," but what can I say? It clearly works.

Can we discuss that bike's deceleration situation?
A lot of frames have cable routing that is not centered on the top tube, and all brakes have the cable runnning down one side. If those two dont match the easiest solution is to flip the brake and mount it on the inside. Not the best solution, and you do loose a bit of stopping power. But it works.
I should really start flipping $40 road bikes.

not bad but i wouldn't pay 150. There are a lot of these kind of SS conversions over here in muncie. except they are spray painted. all over. rims+tires+spokes+cassette. it makes me lol then :(

Like I said, I can't really fault the guy -- it works. But that's absolutely ridiculous to try and flip some low-end Univega for $150 and call it a "conversion" when all he did was actually detract from the value of the bike by removing the derailleurs.
