Foo - What do you guys think of the 1989 ProFlex Beast?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

That. ^^^^ If anyone has had any ride time on a Beast let me know what your thoughts are. I've only ridden mine three times but can already say that it rides way better than my full carbon 1998 K2 ProFlex 4500! I can't wait till I get it completly done and can take it for a longer ride!

Shouldn't this be in either MTB or C&V?

Thanks for taking the time out to point that out to us. You should apply....to be a mod I mean. :thumb: Mods, please move this post if it breaks the rules of "The FOO," I'll understand. :) (even though the fact that FOO even exsist is tearing a hole in the time space continuum! :twitchy: ;) )

No saving needed. Either reply or let it die.

do you have any pics? That might help.
Never rode one. Not sure I have ever ridden a bike with suspension of any sort. I am very old school.
Here is a cool restore of a proflex though.

Why not? Reminds me a bit of the old Trek Y-frame FS bikes of about the same vintage. I saw one in carbon for sale hanging up in a roller-sports shop years ago.

Is this the one you saw hanging in the shop? If so I have one of those too. =0)

This is what it looked like in mid rebuild. I say rebuild as I'm not retoring it, just making it machanically ridable. ;0)

That wasn't it, but it'll creep me out if you lived close enough to me to know what shop that was. :)

I used to have a 756 which is essentially the same frame. I always liked the Girvin fork as it was flex free. The MacPherson strut rear suspension worked well and the high pivot made it a fantastic climber. Both ends worked even better when I splurged and swapped the elastomers for real shocks (which you already have, hopefully the springs are the correct weight for you). In retrospect, the Pro Flex is one of those bikes that I regret selling. Every know and then when I'm walking the dogs, I see a guy riding a Pro Flex on the local park path - the chain is rustier than a shipwrecked Brillo pad and every pedal stroke is a squeak-fest. I am always tempted to stop him and see if he'd be willing to sell it or at least let me oil the GD chain. Love the CF 4500 by the way, you didn't used to belong to a Pro Flex/K2 list-serve did you?
