The race number at the Chicago tri had an absolutely brutal adhesive. Any thoughts on how to get it off the frame and helmet without damaging the finish (and, in the case of the helmet, the integrity)?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Check out Goo Gone.

Yeah, I called the LBS and they suggested that. But they also said to "test it on the inside of the chainstay first" and "don't use it on the helmet" so (a) I'm a bit worries about it damaging my bike and (b) it doesn't solve the helmet problem.

This is annoying...next time I do that tri I'm taping the number on with my own tape.

You should be able to use goo gone on the helmet and your bike with no problems. It's pretty mild stuff.
