hello everyone

i've been seeing a lot of track bikes with very deeply angled down stems and deep track drop handlebars. what're the pros/cons of having the stem angled down so low? wouldn't those stems/handlebars make it harder to reach for the bars and eventually hurt your back? thanks for the info guys!

if you're actually racing track it gets your body lower making you more aerodynamic. It'd be a ***** to actually streetride your bike with it set up for track racing though. It's one of those things people do because they see racers do it. it doesn't work for normal folks at all, but because whoever is doing it they all want to too.

Mine makes me a better lover. It's actually not that bad to ride. I've got ~8000 miles on mine, and it's my daily commuter. No problems yet. Here's a pic. (http://www.oldskooltrack.com/files/images/stemgal.torrin.bike.jpg)

Ahh, it's good to be back... on a side note, I got a gig in the LBS as a wrench. It's not quite as exciting as building race motorcycles was, but it's cool. And the discounts are KILLER!

lucklust, that bike looks awesome with the drops- what's the stem/handlebar setup if you don't mind me asking?

you should see it now... i've got nitto pista bars sans tape. It's a bargain bucket stem found for ~7$ at a lbs
