I just did a race that had 2 miles of non stop climbing, to the top of a ski mountain, at a combined weight of 240 lbs it took me 45 min. to go the distance. next year I can be 25 lbs lighter all the rest being equal how much faster may I expect to be ?( without the extra weight) ?

Depends on how you train.

Depends on how you train.I'm assuming the same fitness level, just less weight.

Try for 40 pounds lighter.
You can do it.
Everything will fall into place.

That's only realistic if you're losing weight but not riding it off. If you're cycling and that's your main form of exercise for losing the weight then you'll be stronger and lighter. I've gone from 210lbs. to 170lbs. twice in the last 5 years and can tell you that I'm a lot faster climbing. Shouldn't be a news flash though. Imagine trying to climb a few flights of stairs with 40lbs. strapped on your current body.

I used an online estimator (http://bikecalculator.com), here's the result (attached pic):

Obviously, I had to make some assumptions, and it only addresses the fact there's less weight, not the extra fitness you picked up in the process of losing it.

Thanks the online calculator, is the scientific answer I was looking for. Of course I plan to train harder to loose the weight, but if I have the same fitness but shed the lbs. I was wondering what I might expect from that ?
