Okay, you can call me a sad git, anorak, or whatever international equivalants exist ;)

I bought a street atlas for East Kent this lunchtime, I've already got the local OS Explorer maps for the area but I don't like marking them as I find it distracting when planning walks etc. The atalas is pocket sized and at2.5 miles to the inch still shows the smallest hamlets and most minor lanes.

So why did I buy it? I'm going to start marking off routes to work I've tried (I'm not going to grade them or anything, as that would be getting silly ;)) I just thought I'd record the various lanes I've used to get to and from work.

The question is: What should I do about those couple of routes I've tried, where I ended up circling back to the station only to catch the train in because I'd run out of time? I could of course mark off every road I've ever ridden on but that seems a little obsessional :)

This only confirms my belief that "commuting cyclists" like us are not actually trying to get anywhere at all, but rather use it as an excuse to ride! :D

I say let them be, forget about them and take them again at a later date.:D

I have a question for you:

Is i hard for a us citizen to get a visa to work there? What sites have job listings for london, or where ever?

When I was commuting on a regular basis, the most direct route to work was seven miles long. The shortest route I ever took was 12 miles. Some of my routes were 30 miles long. It wasn't about getting to work. It was definitely about the ride.

I don't think I have ever purposely driven my car an extra mile on my way to work just for the joy of driving.

Since this is to be a record of successful trips to work leave out the unsuccessful ones. But I would use the map to figgure out what I should have done to make them successful and then take them to work...

Try:

I think it's reasonably easy to get a visa to work here, but I don't know for sure. I warn you though, we pay a fair bit more for bike bits - approaching 1$ for 1£ :(

Thanks. Everything is expensive there. I'm thinking about a change for a while not sure what i want to do or where i want to go. Could just be day dreaming too:)
