Hi all,

The question is regarding the indexing adjustments on Sram Rival. Usually you would find an axdjustment barrel at the end of the cable. Mine has in-cable adjustments near the handlebars. If you turn these "barrels" to adjust the indexing the "barrels" would gradually turn themselves back to zero position.

No signs of cable stretching/fraying loose fixings.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Is your cable binder bolt tight on the derailleur? Seems that slipping there would give these symptoms.

check cable for fraying/breakage. did you install new housings? seat the housing ends by giving the exposed cable a pull and holding the derailleur parallelogram

The cables are brand new, no signs of stretching, slipping or fraying. On the MTB you would turn the adjustment barrel and the barrel would stay there. On my road bike you turn the in-cable adjustment, and it gradually turns itself back........

oh just turn them tight or zero positon as you call them and set tension at the pinch bolt. you can also use the adjuster that is on the rear derailuer, it has detents to hold the adjustment better. vibratite vc 3 was mentioned in another thread, looks like the perfect application for the barrel adjuster
