Assuming it's a standard braze-on FD mount I don't see why not. But you'll have to work out cable routing with fully enclosed housing since there aren't any fulcrums. Probably not a problem using plastic wire ties. You'll also have to decide where you want the derailleur controls, since you won't have the dual position option.

I think they believe if you can afford $4k+ for a single-purpose bike frame that you can swing the other $8k for Di2 and Zipps. You could make it work but personally, I think it's too much work.

The OP shouldn't be sold that bike if he plans on purposely modifying it to fit mechanical dura ace. You can afford 7900, you can afford Di2.

This would be a fun challenge for any LBS. The kind of fun challenge that would give them some bragging rights, and street cred and might be so happy to have the work that they would treat you right.

Nahhhhhh. Just start drilling holes and installing eye bolts w/barrel adjusters and cable guides. It'll look fiiiiiiine. :innocent:

It could just be a preference for a mechanical system. I'm sure Di2 works fine. And I'm sure Calfee or a similarly qualified carbon frame specialist would be able to make quick work of some cable stops on that frame. I'd go with Calfee though, since they have some extremely talented painters that can make the frame look almost like it was never modified before. It will take some minor surgery on the frame so that sort of quality touch up work is something you'd want.

It was more of a curious question. I figured this abomination of a bicycle would look ugly if jerry-rigged. I wanted to know how possible it would be without looking like that fiberglass bike I saw on here years ago. So I don't plan on doing this.

I also wonder, how can you claim that if I can afford 7900, I can afford Di2? I haven't given my bank account info to anyone. :) There is a major price difference, so I don't see how you can say that. Unless its cheaper where you are looking...
