My commuter uses 135mm rear spacing, and I'd like to run Campy 10 speed on a Shimano MTB freehub. I've tried the Jtek ShiftMate, and shifting was actually better w/o it. I'm thinking giving the Wheels Mfg Accelerator 10 speed cassette a go, but wanted to get some feedback before I drop the $$$.

I'd be running Centaur 10-speed ErgoPower levers with a racing triple rear mech.

Thanks.

I'm assuming you did everything you could to ensure the Shiftmate wasn't at fault - properly lubed cable and all that jazz.

Before you spring for a cassette, have you looked into the possibility of assembling your own?

Given the number of different thickness cogs spacers around these days, it should be doable to match the Campy spacing with Shimano stuff, if you have the gear lying around... I'd get busy with a vernier.

I'm using 10 speed campagnolo shifters with 9-speed sram cassette and shimano derailleur using the shiftmate and it works flawlessly. Not one problem. FWIW, maybe you already checked this but the shiftmates can be set up two ways so make sure yours is right (either from small pulley to large pulley or vice versa).

Maybe try a shimano derailleur?

A Jtek Shiftmate gives me wonderful shifting with my 10-speed Shimano cassette, a Shimano rear derailleur and 10-speed Campy Ergo brifters so my first thought, like Kimmo's, is did you install the Shiftmate correctly and use the correct pulley oriented the right way?

I purchased one of the da Vinci-modified SRAM X9 rear derailleurs, and it works great. The derailleur wasn't cheap, but I can run 9-speed cassettes/chains in practically any config. My current setup consists of:

Campy Centaur ErgoPower shifters (10-speed)
Sugino XD2 triple crank (24/36/46)
Shimano 9-speed cassette (11-32) and chain
SRAM/da Vinci X9 rear derailleur

CampSRAMano works pretty darn well.

Right on Mark. Glad you got it sorted out.

Yeah, I'm pleased with how it all works. The mod that da Vinci produces is really slick.

the wheels conversion cassette is really fickle, I had problems with it working on a bunch of my wheels.. I found the American Classic to work on more wheelsets and shifting was fine..
