Anyone cycle commute into Brantford from Paris or Galt? I am working in Brantford 2 days a week and I was thinking of parking the car in Paris and cycling into downtown Brantford using the Grand River trail (Am fortunate to be able to park a bike inside). Any particularly good/safe places to leave a car?

There is a parking lot right by the trail on the north side of Paris on East River Road, which becomes Willow street in Paris. It should not be a problem to park there.

So, have you tried this ride? The trail adds a lot of distance if you do it all by trail. If you're looking to make the trip from Paris faster, you could try getting off the trail at powerline (where you ride though that pot-holed parking lot), then taking powerline to oak park to hardy road, to paris road/brant av. You can also hop back on the trail from hardy road just before you pass the country club.
The first section of paris road can be a little busy (though I've never seen it so busy that any motorist has a problem moving to the other lane to overtake), but the downtown portion of brant av is nice to ride, since one of the traffic lanes turns into a 'parking lane', with lots of room to cycle right past all the cars trapped in the sole traffic lane. ;)
