Chrome just announced the introduction of their new SPD-compatible sneakers. The new Kursk SPD shoes are identical to the standard Kursk sneakers but have SPD-mounts. I wonder how they'll hold up? Personally, I dig the look of the Mission Workshop Rondels but more options can't be a bad thing.

The mounts aren't even recessed. How does this compare?

gonna throw a wild guess and say you remove that plastic part for the cleat mount.

also, they finally made the kursks what they should have been this whole time.

The pictures we're getting are almost positively with the covers bolted on, so we're not seeing the actual cleat mount. Which would be recessed. Though with the thickness of the kursk sole, I highly doubt they could get it completely sub-flush like the Rondel.

As for price... I have a hard time imagining it'll be more expensive than the $140 Rondel.

I believe those plates are screwed into the SPD mounts. So you remove the plate and then insert of the cleat so it would be recessed. Kind of stupid on chromes part if not.

they are recessed, you have to take that part out first.

i wouldn't be surprised if these are cheaper because they are canvass and not leather.

chrome makes great stuff, and mission workshop is really more of a spinoff from people that used to be at chrome... so i'm sure they're very similar. in fact, they look like DZR's. (the makers of the rondel) i agree with prolly on this one.

unless these are under 60 dollars, i'll be happy i stuck with the rondel. i wouldn't mind wearing my rondels to a business meeting, i would mind wearing these.

Have these hit the streets? Any reviews?

I received and email response from Chrome. It looks like we'll have to wait till Feb 2011. Bummer.

Like with all SPD sneakers, I'll believe it when I see it.

Seems like it was almost a year waiting for the Rondels after the first press photos.

looking and understanding are two different things apparently, making quick judgmental remarks comes easy to the unrefined.
