FastJake
09-14-10, 11:53 PM
Ehhhh...

I've never understood the purpose of a drop stem with riser bars. Why not just get a "7" stem and flat bars? IMO it should also have a brake, but I don't want to start another huge debate about that. Apart from those things it looks like a pretty cool ride.

If someone tried to give me that bike for free I would say

"No sir, get out of here with that bike, I do not want it"

I hope so!

I wasn't hating (although I never really get the drop stem/riser bars thing), the fork just looks odd to me.

illenvillain

the stem came with the frameset and i didnt care much to find a new one because i just wanted to ride it

36 hole wheels, eh?

Gotta have 36 holes to be NJS certified ;)

What's with all the hate? The only thing I'd do to it would be to take the stickers off the rims, I reckon it's a sweet ride.

any tips on doing that? those mofos are on there for good

They actually peel off pretty easily. Use a hair dryer to warm them up and peel them right off. Use Goo Gone or WD40 to clean off any leftover residue.

seau grateau
09-15-10, 09:04 AM
Then take a little knife and carve (njs) into each rim.

illenvillain
09-15-10, 09:10 AM
too bad i dont care about that. the only njs parts that are on it came from the guy that i originally bought it from. i used a seat post from a parts bin for christ sake

Scrodzilla
09-15-10, 09:16 AM
Which makes Jesus sob even harder.

PedallingATX
09-15-10, 09:16 AM
deep Vs are whatever...I had a set on my njs built but got new wheels pretty shortly thereafter. Nothing wrong w/ risers I guess, but use a diff stem.

I'm with you, though, I would rather ride an incomplete build and then replace parts as I go than wait until I have the *perfect* bike to go for a ride...

I love the frame, though. Georama is cool and the color is gorgeous.

TRaffic Jammer

36H for the rim that'll last and take more of a beating. Low spoke count is for racing.

They actually peel off pretty easily. Use a hair dryer to warm them up and peel them right off. Use Goo Gone+1 although only one came of easily the other required some very careful scraping using my nails and a pocket knife. The goo gone worked well to take off the residue.

nice build, but i got two words for you: Nitto Pearl

thanks man. im still shocked about how i got it. im from toronto and its very very rare that you see some nice track stuff, most stuff you gotta ship or heavily overpriced. then i seen this guy selling njs parts on craigslist which led me to believe that he was parting a build out and what do you know...my sherlock holmes instincts were right and i ended up getting a very sweet deal on it.

The bars are a personal choice for the riding you do, so I don't care about those. Overall, it's a solid build. If it were mine I wold have gone for a box section rim than would match the frame's tube proportions but that again is a personal choice. Just ride it and enjoy it.
