I ordered some new wheels, on line, for my 80's trek steel 330 with 126mm spacing.I've been told these 622-17s are hybrid wheels and aren't right by some "ëxpert" though they look and feel allright to me.The originals were 622-15s.These new ones even fit my 700-23 tires.Any downside to the 622-17s?Extra stress on the wheels or spokes?Worried!

No, there is no problem. The 15/17 is the width of the rim at the bead seat.

It would be more helpful if you told us what the new rim is

You worry needlessly, Grasshopper. The rims are a teeny bit wider than optimal for your narrow tires, but it won't make any real difference. Go ride your bicycle.

Cheap Weinman rims with 126mm spacing.I didn't want to stretch the frame with more modern wheels so I found these.Immediately the spokes started to break so I had them relaced(rear) with stainless steel champion spokes and all seems well so far about 30 miles of riding.I am less than thrilled with the mechanic who rebuilt the wheel as when I came to pick up the bikes the wheel s were not true and when I pointed it out he said the rims are cheap.I know the rims are cheap.So what.He re trued the wheel.I just bought some Mavic rims on line for the future.
