Does the sram omnium crankset fit without clearance or chainline issues on a 2008 or 2009 trek t1 without spacers or modification? Also, posted in track forum, but I think I will have better results in here. Thanks in advance.

I clearly remember it not working for someone. Vixtor could revive something if you ask nicely.

Here I am.
Apparently, 2010 T1 will not work with Omniums.

I've been searching quite a bit to find out. I found issues with the 2010 on velospace, but no info on the older ones. Any help would be appreciated as I am looking to buy a bike with this crankset on craigslist.

Thank you, I saw this...hmmm. Bike has no pedals or tubes/tires, what do I need to look for if the crankset is on the bike? dented chainstay?

Three posts at the same time.

Here you go, I don't think it'll fit.

the owner said that the bike had an "upgraded team bottom bracket." According to the most recent link it appears that with those bb's listed it would fit on a t1, correct?

Mine's an '08. I have Omniums. They fit. Line up nicely with Dura-Ace hubs. Bike goes fast and turns left in circles frequently.

Check to see if the inside of the spider hit the drive side chain stay, check to see if there are nasty marks/gouges on the chain stay, spin the crank to see if it spins cleanly.

So what one is it that fits? Is the chainring on the outboard side of the spider or the inboard side of the spider?

it has to be outboard. if the spider has issues clearing, how would you possibly be able to also squeeze a chainring though?

The spider sits proud of the chainring when mounted inboard. The boss sits out WAY father than the thickness of a chainring. It is superfluous material that just adds to its "stiffness" cachet.

My question is relevant to companies marketing road cranks as track cranks where you just stuff the chainring on the inboard side and spacer it for the 62mm fit. So the question stands, is it a proper track crank that the chainring sits outboard with a 62mm driveline? Even the stock Trek T1 cranks, the Bontrager S100/S300 style has the chainring mounted outboard and the driveline is wacky. Putting the chainring inboard makes it work, therefore my question.

Not that I really care any more, my T1 is up for sale but someone will need this info in the future.

if you want to get technical, outboard. the only position.

I thought that the Trek T1 came with Omniums? At least a couple years ago? I have some Bontrager branded Omniums I got wholesale-overstock that I assumed were spec'd for a Trek or Lemond track bike.
