Introductions - Welcome from Pepperell, Ma (North Central Mass)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

By way of intro:

I grew up riding bikes to school every day, fixing them. I even did a "century" once in high school on my Gitane 10-speed in 1966 or so ( a dead flat course, mind you). Then I got a license.

Many moons later, my wife who is an avid runner, had problems with stress fractures and started to cross train. Somewhat naturally, she decided that she would try triathalons. She is a strong runner and swimmer, but had a lot of reservations about the bike (didn't understand shifting, etc.). I bought a road bike much like hers (Cannondale R600) to accompany her. This was about July. We started watching the Tour De France every night and that really hooked the both of us. In early September (2004), we did a 4 day inn-to-inn trip in Vermont (about 40 miles a day). We're regretting the onset of winter (although we do snowshoe and XC ski), but thinking about hooking up with a club in the spring, and aiming for a century (probably not in Vermont!). We're having a ball so far (she especially enjoys it when I can't unclip quick enough :( )

My primary passion is jazz guitar, but biking is climbing up there on the scale...

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the forum members who have been supportive and forthcoming with info on a lot of new topics to me (bikes have come a long way...)
