Wondering if the asking price for this Miyata 916 w/ modern components is fair. Buyer is asking for $700.
Also was wondering if anyone had any experience with Miyata's APA aluminum bonded forks.

At least a few hundred too much, in my opinion. Buyer is probably trying to make a profit over the money he or she has put into the bike—not going to happen.
I'm no expert on this brifter business though, so maybe someone will tell you I'm wrong—listen to them (maybe).
+1 Current owner over-invested in this bike. Unrealistic price.
The 916 is a really nice bike.
Beautiful bike, although that Shimano 105 FD is way out of place on this one.
Bike would be very tempting at the right price. And seller may just hook someone given the great cosmetics.
I see the Speedplays are not included. That's too bad, as you can get at least $100 for those pedals on ebay. If you could get seller to throw those in with the deal, that would make it a lot more tempting.
Used brifter bikes around here start at a market price of about $300 for SORA level. This is way above that level. But used buyerstotally disappear at about the $500 price point. But if you are in one of those insane markets, it will sell.
If you go for it, make sure those Ultegra STIs are flawless. If they are reluctant on shifting, they could be nearly spent. At that point, you will face a $300 + replacement cost.

I'm contemplating negociating with him on frame/fork/headset. He replied that he would be willing to go $250 on that, and that is generally what the verdict is on eBay completed listings for high end miyatas, but I still think it is a little bit out of my affordability range.
As a keeper, assuming you have the parts to complete, that price is not too bad. It appears to be in really good shape.
I was watching the bike too. was going to go check it out, but seller says its sold... it'll probably make someone happy.
