Greetings,
As you may (or may not) be able to tell from my name I am a big fan of the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett.
Is there anybody else who likes reading them?
If you've never read a discworld book, you should try one.
The best books to start with are Mort or Guards Guards.

i've read most of 'em. Can't get into the witches series. Love Rincewind and the guards.
Going Postal just came out... I'm poor so i'm waiting for my library to get it in.
Try Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series. Have you read Robert Asprin? He's more young adult-ish, but along the lines of Pratchett. And I KNOW you've read Douglas Adam's HHGG?!

With me its the Rincewind series I can't get into.
I love the guard series and of course the Death Series :)
He's one of my favorite characters.
I've got most of the series in pb,so it will be a while before I can get Going Postal.
The library isn't really an option for me,since they'll only have the book in Dutch and even though I'm sure the translaters try, humour doesn't translate very well.
I haven't read the Dresden Files series or anything of Robert Asprin, but when I see some of their books I'll give it them a try.
And you were right. I have read HHGG :) . I'm always surprised that there are people out there that haven't read it yet. I've got a copy of the book at home, or rather used to have. I keep giving it to people who haven't read it yet and tell them to read it.
Everybody should know what the number 42 stands for :) :)

Love 'em all without exception. Pyramids is a particular favourite though. It's the camel.
That reminds me - I've got a copy of the illustrated The Last Hero at home that I haven't read yet. I miss Josh Kirby's illustrations - Eric had some beautiful paintings in it.
Also check out Robert Rankin.

so I'm half of the way thru. It started slow with flat characters, but they got developed and it's now getting fun. Plus, the main character is a con-man and Pratchett seems to have gotten inside his head well enough and explains things, so that's a bit different and neat.

I finished reading it and I thought it was a great book.
I loved the main character. If Ankh Morpork ever needs a new patrician (wich I hope won't be for a long, long, long, long time) I could see Moist taking over.
He'd do a great job.

didn't Moist remind you very much of the producer guy in Moving Pictures?

By the way, Mr. Pratchett was (or still is?) in Australia recently. They interviewed him on Triple J. The mp3 is up on the website. Part 1 (http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/breakfast/listen/Terry_Prat_m972047.mp3) Part 2 (http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/breakfast/listen/Terry_Prat_m972055.mp3)
My dog's name is Gaspode, but he doesn't talk (that I'm aware of).
