Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Driving on holy gasoline.
What's your poison?

Organic IPA (http://www.fishbrewing.com/fish-tale-ales/organic-india-pale-ale/) and Maiden the Shade (http://www.ninkasibrewing.com/?page=beers#maiden)
I was supposed to have lamb but the propane tank for my grill was empty.
There's a Japanese bar here that makes a mean Manhattan.

I'll pay good money to anyone who knifes that damn hunchback
Today is Pirate day. Gotta have Bacardi and make some grog. Just replace the water that usually came in grog with orange juice and a slice of lime. :)

I had waaaaaaaaaayy to much Wild Turkey American Honey while camping out last night. Being buzzed + sleeping on hard ground + being on a down slope = So not a good thing.
Almost 24 hours later and I still don't feel well. :(

This past weekend I tried a new drink called a Basin Street. Found the recipe online while searching for bourbon based drinks.
2 oz. bourbon
1 oz. triple sec
1 oz. lemon juice.
Shake over crushed ice and strain into cocktail glass.
I did not shake or strain mine, just poured ingredients over crushed ice and stirred.
made some good frozen margaritas sat night. fresh lime juice, sugar syrup, Patron silver, Contreau (sp), Ice.
They kicked ass. My legs felt like lead yesterday.
We keep a bottle of this at work:

Unfortunately, it's locked away and my colleague with the key left hours ago

Friend of mine brought back a bottle of something clear from China that was 180 proof, at least, and hit harder than good White Lightning.........
Holy cow! I drank one glass and my legs turned into Nerf.

I'm usually an IPA man (though last night it was Stone's Arrogant Bastard Ale), but last week we went through a phase ("phase" is internet shorthand for >24 hours/<72 hours) of drinking a wonderful concoction called "The Educated Cosmopolitan"
- 4 parts vodka
- 2 parts Cointreau
- 2 parts Chambord
- 2 parts lime juice
- 3 parts cranberry juice
Shake over ice; strain into a martini glass

180 proof is higher than anything that I've heard of, but I wouldn't be too suprised. There's some pretty toxic stuff out there -- and cheap. In Beijing, you used to be able to get stuff at about 60%+ ABV in plastic bags at the supermarket. I assume they're still selling it, though I don't think I've seen it in Shanghai.
The standard firewater is Red Star Erguotou (literally "two pot head"), which is I think 56% ABV. You can get a little bottle at 7-11 for less than a US dollar.
Just did a search on their website. You can also get it in this lovely six-litre plastic jug in ABVs of 46%, 52%, 56% and 60%:

Saranac Ginger Beer. Awesome, AND non-alcoholic. :D
I've sadly developed a taste for bourbon in the last few months -- specifically, Buffalo Trace. It's only available at one or two bars that I've found here, and it costs US$12 for a single. Sigh.
And let's not even get into the delicious Black Maple Hill ... US$16.50 for a single :(

Let's see what we have in the storage unit....

I like to have 1-2 beers per night 1-2 nights per week. I'll probably have a Founder's KBS or Breakfast Stout sometime this week, and I might crack open a case of 2006 vintage Samichlaus to see if it's ready to drink yet.
^ Nice!
My neighbourhood supermarket has recently been selling Belgian and other good beers for what must be way below cost. I think they bought them not knowing what they were, and are trying to get rid of them. I've never seen anyone else buying them, but my fridge (don't have anywhere else to store them) is now stocked! Got some of this yesterday:

Also a nice selection of lambics and Guinness Foreign Extra Stout.

Mothership Wit from New Belgium currently. Various ales generally. Not much of a hard liquor kind of guy.
However, my all time favorite drink is Irish Tea. :p
The harvest has been completed and the 2009 vintage Pinot Noirs are being released in the Willamette Valley.
An excellent budget wine, with part of the proceeds donated to bike safety causes.

$22USD, just bought it on your post. I WAS looking for decent bourbon suggestions. Far exceeds my expectations for the price. Darn smooth.
Was going to suggest a trade, but it looks like $100 to ship US to Shanghai. Ouch.
Tonight it's Sailor Jerry spiced rum & dr. pepper (cane sugar sweetened)
Wow, I haven't had a drink of anything stronger than a glass of wine in a long time. Maybe I'll have a glass of Woodford Reserve tonight.

US$22 for a bottle??? I'll remember to stock up next time I'm in the US. Glad you enjoy it! If you drink yours on the rocks, try to make a Japanese ice ball (http://cocktails.about.com/od/mixology/f/make_iceball.htm) -- keeps the drink cold for longer without diluting it as much.
Was drinking Jim Beam on the rocks tonight... not really my preference, but it was what was available. Would have loved some Maker's or, of course, Buffalo Trace.
And thanks for even thinking of suggesting a trade! But yes, probably not economical... :(
Also, this is a cool story from a great magazine (The Walrus) about Canadian rye whisky, for anyone interested: The Forgotten Empire (http://www.walrusmagazine.com/articles/2010.11-alcohol-the-forgotten-empire/)

I'm not a drink snob. I drink beer, lots of varieties. Prefer English bitter ales. A friend got me going on martinis, those are fun. And I drink merlot when I want some wine.

I tried BT this past week, nice. If Bulleit is available, it too is a decent bourbon at about the same price ($22/750ml)
