Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - importing japanese bike accessories

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
What's the best way to import japanese bike accessories?
www.rakuten.com seems alright, but the prices aren't necessarily competitive with japanese retail sites.

Why? From the ones I've talked to in Japan they want USA bikes and accessories.

Japanese bikes and accessories seem to cater more to smaller/lighter riders and those looking for utility. Light/small and utilitarian are unheard of for American bikes who mostly ride bikes for sport and are big (especially the sports enthusiasts).
In any case I'm looking for a particular accessory and the manufacturer told me they don't distribute it outside of japan. I thought I might find useful advice here because of the Kierin association.

Funny, but here's a real store which specializes in exporting japanese bicycle products:

Rakuten.com (which is the japanese equivalent of amazon.com) also has a package forwarding service to forward packages outside of japan:

When I hear "import," I think volume. Do you want to import goods to resell in the USA and therefore need to contact distributors in Japan to make an order? Or do you simply want to purchase one item for personal use and are therefore looking for the best price? If the latter, one thing you will find is that there will not be as much variety in pricing as you may be used to finding in the USA.

I'm looking for the best price for personal use and I see just as much variety in pricing on japanese retail sites as I'm accustomed to here in the USA. Problem is that none of them will ship internationally.
BTW, alexcycles.com gave me a quote. Shipping is reasonable, but they're charging above MSRP for the actual item...which some japanese retailers are selling for way below MSRP.
