Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Does anyone have experience with these tires. I currently have Schwalbe Marathon Winters and they are great tires but I want a set of "play" tires. I am on the fence about an Ice Spiker or an Extreme as they may be a bit too much tire for me. I'm looking for something that can handle some light trail riding in a few inches of snow. My Marathons will be my go to winter tires until it gets a bit deep. Thanks.

Get the extremes if your local single-track is icy. The larger volume and extra studs help.
I have been running with Hakka 240s for the last 2 winters. They should be able to handle a couple of inches of snow and are pretty good in mildly rutted ice.
That said, I mostly commute on bare pavement with about 5% ice cover, so they may be a slight overkill...
