Thanks.
The box is sweet too.
It hits all the right buttons, wooden, heavy, simple, lined with aromatic leather, and I have no idea what I'm going to do with it.

Sweet Hamilton. Yes, I love the clean look.

I pulled the trigger on my dream watch (you may recall my last manic watch thread:rolleyes:). I actually found a place that will do lay-a-way...the question is can they actually get one for me...still waiting to hear back from them.

Although I could maybe convince myself that this is not too busy.

And if I made real money, my true dream watch:

/\ all gorgeous pieces, Allen.

Do you like A. Lange & Sohne? The cases are similar to the JLC to my eye...I really love their cases but always found the dials a bit too odd ball looking...good thing for me, too since they cost as much as a car.

The JLC dials are just beautiful though. The Master series is simply one of the classics. For that type of dressy watch, I'd much rather have one of those than a Patek Philippe.

The offset dials on the A. Lange & Sohne are not always to my taste.
That said I would not turn one down.
And I can't believe I'm saying this, the JLC Master Calendar is affordable in comparison.

I'm also a big, big fan of Glashutte Original.

This is what I'm wearing this week- a Japanese market Seiko with the 6R15 movement. (I'm wearing it on its steel bracelet now instead of the ZULU strap in the photo.)

/\ love those Seikos.

re: the Langes, They seem a bit overpriced to me, although I am hardly an expert. I think with brands like JLC or Breguet you actually do get your money's worth, even if the prices are really steep. Very refined in-house movements and whatnot.

I like a lot of IWC's designs (or at least, I did, up until a few years ago when they started mucking about with them), but they're another one I feel is a bit overpriced considering what you are getting. You could cut their prices in half and I think that's more in keeping with the value of their watches. I would say the same about Rolex, except they have such outstanding resale value that it is less daunting to spend the money on one, if that's what floats your boat....

My dream watch for eons was the Explorer, but it was always too small for me - well, they just resized it at nearly 40mm...very tempting. If the dealer can't find that Omega for me, I may consider one. Then again, they;re almost twice the price now!
