ok, if anyone is familiar with Jamis bicycles, and ya know about the wierd little bosses on the downtube for the shifters' barrel adjusters, maybe you can answer this question for me:

would these be suitable for mounting downtube shifters? B/c i'm considering a jamis aurora, but i'm not all about the STI. I was hoping to throw some cheap 9 spd downtube shifters on instead, and using some old aero brake levers on the bars.

any insights?

At one time these would have been threaded for a clamp screw but now they are
basically cable stops, useful to keep a clampon downtube shifter from moving but
not for actually mounting one. Steve

If what's there won't accept downtube shifters, barends are another option.

If they are flat on two sides with a threaded hole to accept a screw they are standard downtube shifter bosses, and you can mount downtube shifters.
