Fifty Plus (50+) - I have been a foolish boy and need your reproof

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I took Friday off and went to look at bike shops. The Trek dealer was having a sale. I bought a 2010 Madone 4.5. Picture as soon as I can manage the software.
So, no wife?
That is usually her job. You won't get reproof for buying a great bike here.
Buy a Walmart bike, then we will hound you.
Lessee - you bought a new Trek 4.5. And you call that foolish?
Your guilt wont persuade me to join you in shame... all I can say is awesome! Must be nice :)

Had you actually bought a bike shop, that would have been foolish.
Just buying a bicycle is normal and I can prove it. All of us have done it.

I suppose we could manage a spanking if you really want one. But not for this. Congratulations are in order for stepping up to a really nice ride. A lot more forum members should follow your good example. bk

So, no wife?
She was present when the outrage occurred. The plan was that we would buy a bike each, but she couldn't find one she really liked, which makes things a little uncomfortable. Thank you for the good wishes.
Good show. Nice bike.:thumb:
We're going to need pics.
go do it

No grief from me, I just bought a Soma Smoothie mail-ordered. The latch on my porch screen door was getting left un-latched so my wife picked up that a package was expected. She was only annoyed that I hadn't "asked" if it was OK. Mind you I squirrel money away into my credit union and used that, but "your money is my money" etc...
Great bike though...

LOL, I'm just glad I don't have any money, I was taking a break at a LBS, during a rec. ride and saw a bicycle I thought would be great for the Mrs., OUCH, $2500 dollars, to myself, I say that's "INSANE" for a bicycle but IF I'd had the money, she'd probably have it! ;)

I get in trouble with the Hub when I come home on a new bike.

I see by your list that you've been in a heap of it.

You want to be punished? Take the new bike to the local group ride, find the alpha rider and start bragging about how your new bike makes you SO fast. Your punishment will come soon. ;)

I'm guessing the title of this thread was created with tongue firmly in cheek.
To get affirmation of foolishness and garner reproof you would have posted:
I haven't found time to ride so I've decided to sell my brand new Madone on Craigslist for $250. Going to use the money to buy a bigger TV.
What do you guys think?

That sounds good to me. You can take another Friday off and widen your circle of bike shops. Any excuse to look at bikes. But be careful. If you find another one for yourself, you will be in the dog house.
Congrats, it's a great bike, enjoy!
