Mountain Biking - What should i buy

i just bought a cheapo lear sport bw 3000 dual suspension mountain bike, and im going to customize it a bit, i need to know a cheap, effective combo to make this bike good, it is crap on mud, then again, most stock tyres are, i was thinking of tioga front and back, or maxxis bling bling on the back, imm not sure, and whats a top brand mud guard or fender

I run IRC Mythos xc Kevlar 1.95 rear, IRC Notos xc front.
Nice for high speed cornering- only o.k in mud.

Don't get a bling bling dual if you are going to run it in the mud. In the mud they grip like clean hands on a greased pig. I am going to reccomend Michelin Hot S and Michelin XL S for you they grip really well corner nice and are great in the mud.

I'd say go with Maxxis Minions. Mine are great. I've rolled some scary stuff and some sharp stuff. Haven't popped a tire since I got them (over 3 months ago). They handle great in the mud.

sorry not much useful to add, but ac691 - I'm curious about learsport - they're bloddy cheap comparatively but i was turned off by the lack of knowledge of the sales reps and the bikes just didnt look like they could take much. there's very little 3rd party/peer review (it looks like they're only sold in Aus?) and the only one i found was very critical (using polite words here) of learsport mtbs. Let me know how yours goes after its kitted out for a few months.

The Minions are good for dry stuff. I ran a 2.7 Minion 50a or something last weekend at Sunapee. It slid on a lot of stuff, but didnt pack up very fast(wide spaced knobs)....pretty good tire. How much mud are you talking about?
