The Univega is offered on Shopgoodwill.com here: http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=6765980

The bid stands at $40 right now. Is this bike worth more than $100? because that is what it will cost at the current price, after I pay for gas to get there and back.

There are less than two days remaining to bid. But it is pickup only, in Indianapolis, which is 5 hours away by car.

I know nothing about Univega, but I recognize "cromoly double-butted frame, fork and stays". Here is the full description:

Offered is a men's 26" Japan made Univega Gran Rally six speed bike. It appears to be a black color, and the seat appears to be made of leather. Item has front/rear hand brakes, a side mirror, and reflectors on the pedals. Item is marked with the following: 'Shimano 600, Sakae Custom, SR road champion, Chromoly double butted frame tubes, Chromoly fork and stays', and 'HB-6207 Japan Via'. The wheels are 26", and bike is 28", measured at the highest part of handlebars, X 65". The tires are marked 'Araya 700C High Preformance 100 psi 270GR 700X20C. Item needs cleaning, the tires are flat, seem to be coming off the rims, appear to have dryrot, has discoloration, and wear/tear. The seat is marked 'Italia' and the mirror 'Zefal'.

Goodwill auctions have last second snipers just like ebay. At least the ones I bid on so chances are that bike will sell for a lot more than where it's at now. You may know better if you watch Indy auctions.

It looks very clean and LARGE, maybe a 60cm so if it's for you make sure that is your size. If it's for a flipper no way would you make money after it's all said and done if you have to drive 5 hours to get it. IMHO.

To answer your question in general I would bid on that bike for sure but the Goodwill where I live is about 12 miles away. Shimano 600 = good parts.
