Mountain - Plains - Utah bike shops

I have been thinking about buying a road bike for some time now and have finally decided to go for it. I have been doing a lot of research, but I am not set on any specific brand. I would rather find a bike shop that has great service and great prices. I was hoping for some recommendations on shops in the Salt Lake or Provo areas (I live in Provo, but work in Salt Lake). I have found a couple shops that offer free tune-ups for life, which would be nice. I was just wondering where the experienced riders shop and why they shop there. Thanks for your help.

Hard to beat the nice guys at Lake Town Bicycles, 1520 W. 9000 S. Bountiful Cycles is good, Taylors Bike Shop is good.

I recently bought a Scott road bike at Contender in SLC (at 9th and 9th). They were really good, gave me a really good deal, and when you buy a bike it includes a professional fit. I highly recommend them.

They carry Scott, Orbea, Giant, Ridley, BMC, Look, and Pinarello.

I can recommend Millcreek Bicycles. Mike, the owner, is a knowledgable racer, and does great bike fits. They have a good service dept too. I'm been to Wild Rose and Spin Cycles, and Golsan's, but haven't bought bikes from them.

Have any of you had any experience with SBR Sports ( www.sbrutah.com (http://www.sbrutah.com)) in Orem? I haven’t had time to go in and talk to them, but according to their website, they give lifetime tune-ups if you buy a bike from them. I figure even if the bike is a little more expensive, the free tune-ups should make up for the difference.

From their website, it also looks like Cottonwood Cyclery (www.cottonwoodcyclery.com (http://www.cottonwoodcyclery.com)) offers lifetime free labor when you buy a bike and spend $100 on accessories. Have any of you had experience with them?

Awesome customer service (talk to Melissa). I've bought 3 bikes from them in the in past 3 years.Agreed, Melissa is no longer with Revolution, but the rest of their crew is still very competent. Whenever I see people in their shop trying out bikes...their employees are always making sure they are fit properly which is something I greatly appreciate.

I've purchased some stuff from Contender as well. They are a higher end shop, but have carried odd Campy stuff that I've needed. Great selection of high-end bikes in stock.

All shops that I've seen suggested are known to be good, but I have never dealt with Lake Town. Spend a few minutes at each to see how you are treated, superior customer service is king IMO.

Contender hands down. Second choice would be Mill Creek Cycles.

Contender caters mostly to the high end riders with deep pockets. They've got awesome racey gear, but I'm sure their helpful sales people can help you find a bike that will work for you.

I prefer Cyclesmith near the U of UT. Super good atmosphere and staff.

I say find a store near your house so you don't have to lug your bike to SLC every time you want it tuned / adjusted - unless, of course, you're going to ride in SLC.
