Mountain Biking - My test rig seems to be my best light yet...

I got my board back from Quazzle. (BTW...not only does he make great boards...his customer service is the best...thanks again, Serge!)

I forgot that we had our "Moonlight Ride" this coming weekend, so I threw this triple XP-E board from LuxRC.com (L332.MC-E) into the only housing that I had laying around. (I sold everything else I had)

Anyhoo...this housing is the one that I was going to do the thermostat with cooling fan, but as suspected by other members...the fan really didn't make an impact on anything so I removed it. The up side is that this housing has more surface area than any of my housings to date, so there shouldn't be any cooling issues to speak of.



No beamshots yet I suspect but I may like it best of all so far given the XP-E's tighter beam and longer throw.

May I introduce to you...

The XP-E will definitely out-throw the XP-G any day through some Carclo 20mm optics.

Double'Gina reminds me of a P7 only cooler with a hot center that radiates outward. The XP-E is like a "rod" of light.

XP-E has a slightly warmer tint which I like. I can't really make up my mind which I like better. I have no way to test the throw beyond my 75' shots here b/c I don't have sold both of my doubles.


I think it's getting to the point of 6 to 1 & 1/2 dozen to the other. The double Regina and XP-E triple are both KILLER helmet lights. The double would be more efficient...but the triple is physically smaller.

Well...the runtime on that little battery is pretty impressive. 2000mAh mfgr rated on the cells.

Ran 82 minutes on high.


I built a 3750mAh battery pack that is slightly narrower, almost 2x longer and a tad thinner. I'm expecting it to run 2.5hrs'ish.

The bigger battery pack still fits on the helmet really really well due to how narrow it is. It's also dadgum light weight. Makes the old Bastid battery look and feel like a piggy.


The "bigger" battery pack is interesting...it's 3750mAh. It's approx the same width and thickness as the little one. (slightly smaller) But it's almost 2x longer.

Runtime was 2hrs 28min:
