Southern California - Dyna-Sys XT 11-36T, Dyna-Sys XT RD 773 and Ultegra road shifters.

Tested the XT Dyna-Sys Cassette 11-36T, XT Dyna-Sys RD SGS 773 and Ultegra 6600 shifters. It didn't work at all. The Dyna-Sys have a different pull ratio than road shifters. It only works with the XT MTB Dyna-Sys shifters. I will stick to my SRAM 11-32Tand XT 9spd RD772 set-up.

A non-Dyna-Sys Shimano RD used in conjuction with the 10sp Dyna Sys Cassette and 6600 shifters should have been fine, though.

Done that already. Shifting became slow but it does shift. If you are looking for a perfect shift, then I don't recommend using 11-36T with a 9spd RD.

I tried 11-36 Dyna-sys with 6700 brifters and XT 9 spd RD. Shifting isn't smooth at all and sounds clunky with the chain in the 36 sprocket, even with B-tension screw adjusted. The SRAM 11-32 pg1070 cassette has been working fine 6700 shifters and XT 9spd RD. The gearing range of the 50/34 compact with 11-32 cassette is quite close to a 52/39/30 triple and 11-28 cassette.

Which XT 9s RD are you using?
Shadow, or pre-Shadow?

I am using Shimano 10s brifters, Shadow 9s XT RD, and 10s 11-36 cassette.
They work very well together.

I have a shimano shadow rear derailler with 10-speed 105 brifters, and a XX(the only available in this size when I bought it) 11-36 casette and shift quality is very poor. What kind of cassette are you using?

The Shimano XT Dyna-Sys cassette.

I'm not really getting it? Why not just get a triple and be done with it? Or just get stronger.

I have the 11-36 XT CS-M771 with SRAM X9 Type2 long cage, Force shifters, flawless shifting.
