I am about to switch to fixed gear from my ss and am looking to new pedals. I was looking into the MKS Sylvian track pedals. any suggestions for the toe clip and the strap? Should I go single or double strap?

it depends how much disposable income you have. Nylon toe straps will last forever, and cost you $10 at most. Fancy leather doubles can cost as much as a used bike.

origin8's line of components seem pretty good for the price. Hell I have a complete bike thats 90% origin8.

only double clips/straps I have are all-city. They are probably comparable, maybe a little nicer than the origin8. Do the job, nice and secure.

I always use toshi doubles... but that's just my preference for suede and my wallet... the only part I hate about getting new toshis, is installing them through the tiny strap holes of sylvan pedals...

Spend $24 and get MKS clips and straps...they're nothing fancy but they're perfectly functional, moderately attractive and they're cheap.

My opinion:
Avoid aluminum toe clips, unless you're a serious weight-weenie and don't mind replacing them on a regular basis.
Nylon straps and plastic toe clips are the best for durability and value, but won't get you much street cred if that's important to you.
Double straps are for show-offs.
Look for straps with rollers at the buckle; these are the easiest to snug down and loosen up, which are important attributes for fixed gear riding where you only get one chance to snug or loosen the strap on each pedal revolution.
