Classic & Vintage - Man, the market has been really bad lately.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I mean in terms of deals/steals to be had here in Boson. I've found one bike worth having that fits since I've gotten back here for school and I own that one. Nuts! I sold like 30 bikes this summer.
Is this a winter thing or what? How are you guys doing?
I think this is the same thing as what you are asking.

I've found a few deals. Yesterday I picked up near brand new Mavic Aksium wheelset w/ a $100 set of Hutchinson tires installed for $65. However, I've found that selling bikes (in Boston as well) has been much harder these last few weeks compared to the same time last year.
A quick glance at last year's spreadsheet shows my sales from Sept 15-30 2009 of :
Raleigh Super Record - $180
Fuji Dynamic 10 - $200
Schwinn World - $160
Moto Mirage - $150.
Same time this year, all nicer bikes with alloy wheels, etc.
Lotus Challenger SX - $150
Lotus Challenger SX - $150
Schwinn World - $140
It took much longer to sell the nicer bikes at the same, or lower price and I got haggled a lot more. Not sure what the deal is...market is getting saturated maybe?
p.s. stien, where do you go to school? I'm at Northeastern...

I haven't bothered to put many bikes up for sale this summer. But when I did they sold, and for top dollar. Not near as many responses as there used to be, but a completely overhauled and well-presented bike will sell. Put one up Friday, sold it the next day. 4 total responses was all, but response #2 came with the cash and walked away with a pretty little Centurion for his girlfriend.
I'm currently trying to run down my piles of parts, and am VERY selective about what I buy for resale. Too much clutter, and I'm getting tired of doing it. My bikes keep me plenty busy as it is. :)
Going through a classic squeeze right now. I am finding fewer flippable bikes right now, and finished projects are selling for less.
