I've heard from some people that it's best to leave out an objective but what am I suppose to put? I mean, I am a lot of things and I can be a lot of things. I can't find anything on google with examples of an objective-less resume. Would I just put a cover letter instead?

blah.

If you are in IT, your resume should consist of the following:

All the relevant experience of everyone you know or have worked with. How would a search engine find you anyway?
Advanced degrees from institutions that no one ever heard of (they must have a foreign language website, though)
You must state that you are an expert in at least 60 technologies. The more, the better.
Listing OS experience under Hardware (and vise-versa) is acceptable.
Spelling and grammatical errors are encouraged

Your resume should be at least 21 pages.

Seriously, though.

If you are filing resumes with companies not actively hiring, then do put an objective on the resume. If you are replying to an advertised position, put a cover letter together that ties your objectives with the company's stated objectives.
