just what the title says, more road than mountain riding, but stopping is important. must be QUIET and have a good feel. thanks in advance

What your title does NOT say is what type of levers you use, MTB or Road. I opted for a BB7 Road caliper for the front of my touring bike. I wanted lots of stopping power, simplicity, and good feel. Quiet was not part of my requirements, but with Kool Stop pads, they are. I ended up going to a 203mm rotor to match the stopping poiwer of the XTR V-brake/booster setup I replaced. The frame is not set up for disc, so I still have the V-brake/booster on the rear. Stopping is excelent, good feel, and 'skidding power' at both ends in the dry.:thumb:

Hydraulics = mountain bars... want road levers Cable brakes are IT.
Pretty much all discs will squeal at some point, or under some circumstances. If quiet is a priority, go with roller brakes.

i have mountain bars and am planning on mountain levers
I use BB7 on the road bike and MTBs. The "feel/modulation" stuff is a bunch of junk for me.
