I have a 1981 Trek 710 that I bought as frame only and need to replace the binder bolt, but it is unlike any of my other bikes so I don't know what I am looking for. It is recessed on one side for the bolt head but threaded on the other side. Can anyone point me in the direction of what I should be looking for?
Thanks!!!

Take your bike to your LBS and they should be able to help you out. It cost around $10 for one and come in 3 sizes short ,medium ,or long . it all depend on the size of the seat stay on the frame.

A standard M6 allen head bolt will work; preferably stainless steel. You should be able to find a suitable bolt at any decent hardware store.

make sure the seatpost is the EXACT size needed. Too small will result in bending the bolt as you tighten and it may snap at the most unfortunate time.

Thanks JohnDThompson. Picked up 3 different lengths from Home Depot this morning. I think the 20mm will fit my '84 660 perfectly.
Appreciate the advice!
