Sweet for $1300. That's competitive with the Salsa Vaya which goes for almost $1500. Dedicated commuter bikes are finding their way into the market.
A change from a few years ago when such bikes were sadly lacking.
Now there are a plethora of choices to choose from!
very shiny. Fixed commuter...how to deal with the hill?

It's actually an 8 speed I think.
Very nice but I wish they could take 40 mm tires. That's the size of my favorite winter tire and this bike would be so great for winter. The brakes on the Bryant probably make it a better choice anyway.
So Civia, how about making a drop-bar bike with extra-wide tire clearance and naming it after my Minneapolis neighborhood (Standish-Erricson) ?

It's a 8-speed internal hub. Perfect for most city hills. (Depending on the city, of course)

Nice bike. Looks like Civia is really working to offer a bike in each major price bracket between $600 and $2000, plus their new entry into the utility bike arena.

How do they get the belt drive on there?

Very nice looking bike. I would like to see an option for a generator hub and lights, and I think disc brakes would be another good option, but as-is, it looks very nice.
Not really a new model. It's a lower end version of the existing Civia Bryant.

Agreed - no discs, Nexus in lieu of the Alfine, and a J-Tek instead of a brifter.
I prefer discs, myself.
Now that I have used the J-Tek with my Alfine, I have no desire for a brifter (I only like Campy anyway). The J-Tek is top notch in my book.
That's a nice looking bike and a solid alternative to the other bikes in the price bracket.

I'm with you - I like my discs, and my Alfine hub, as well! I just like the lines of this bike and the frame colour.

Installing a belt drive requires a split in the frame. Some manufacturers split it right at the dropouts while others split the seatstay; just above the dropouts.

I think it's Civia's own design. You can see it here (http://civiacycles.com/bikes/bryant/) on the Bryant. Unfortunately, they don't list it separately in their accessories page. Might be worth an email or a phone call to find out for sure. ;)
Alternatively, Velo Orange makes a nice chainguard (http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/accessories/chainguards-stay-protectors-kickstands/vo-alloy-polished-chainguard.html) that is somewhat similar.

Rear triangle is split at the dropouts. So yes, you need a special frame for belt drives.
