I'm new to this forum, and I usually ride by myself, so I am baffled by the abbreviations that everyone else seems to know. I searched with no luck. How about some help with corrections or additions to the list below, so I feel a little less like an idiot?

BB - Bottom Bracket

Brifter - mounted on the handlebar and serves as a brake lever and shifter.

FD - Front Derailleur

GMR - Glendora Mountain Road

GRR - Glendora Ridge Road

LART - Los Angeles River Trail - runs from Egret Park (near the intersection of the Los Angeles River and I5) all the way to the northwest corner of Griffith Park (near the intersection of Forest Lawn and the Ventura (134) Freeway.

LBS - Local Bike Shop

RD - Rear Derailleur

SART - Santa Ana River Trail - (officially the Santa Ana River Trail and Parkway SARTP (http://www.santaanarivertrail.org/)) - runs from the ocean where Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa meet all the way to the Chino Valley Freeway (71) on the West side of Corona.

SGRT - San Gabriel River Trail - between it and the bike trail on the other side of the river (Coyote Creek Bikeway), it runs from the ocean in Seal Beach all the way to Foster Rd in La Mirada (?).

Ti - Titanium

Others - ???

GMR is Glendora Mountain Road and GRR is Glendora Ridge Road. Most non-socal specific ones can be looked up by googling. Non-bike internet message board ones are often well represented in the urban dictionary as well. Such as HTFU (see above), IBTL (in before the lock), IIRC (if I recall correctly), IMO (in my opinion), ftfy (fixed that for you) etc.

HTFU - Harden the **** Up

I'm gonna chant that in my mind when I don't think I can pedal any more!

SART - Santa Ana River Trail - runs from the ocean where Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa meet all the way to the Chino Valley Freeway (71) on the West side of Corona.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the paved bicycle path has officially been named SARTP (http://www.santaanarivertrail.org/home.html). I doubt the USFS will rename the dirt singletrack portion above Mentone, which is signed and historically known as the SART.
