This BB has a plastic adjustable cup, and I do not recommend it. For about the same price, get this Tange BB >>> http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=188_247_680&products_id=3281
Also, this will work fine as well >>> http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=188_247_1708&products_id=9452
Note: This assumes you have the stock Andel cranks, which take a 110mm - 111mm JIS square taper BB spindle.

Then why are you starting with a bottom bracket? Is it broken or worn out? If not, either you'll get a $25 BB that won't make any difference at all or you'll get a Phil Wood which might last a long time but won't change anything about your ride.

i sort of need a new bottom bracket, i figured since i'm replacing that, i will slowly replace other things like wheels. it's a fixed gear, there isn't too much to actually upgrade.

:50:Damn you Shimano and your newfangled plastic. Back in my day bottom brackets were made from iron and wood and we liked it.:50:
There is nothing wrong with the Shimano plastic BB cups. The BBs last a long time, are sealed, and are cheap.
Sure, you could spend the extra money on Phil Wood if it makes you feel better. And it might last longer. But it isn't necessary.
Other specs to consider ? And this is for the current year and model that Surly has as it's out of the box configuration.
