On my way home yesterday. Guy in a older shiny nissan pick up is on the phone.. gabbing.. and not really keeping it in his lane. People honk.. drive around.

I get next to him at the light. Lean into his window, he's yaking it up, eyebrow raised at me as I lean into his window.

So, I tell him.

"Hey Achmed. You're having a little trouble with the phone and the wheel. Why don't you pull over before an accident happens."

That was nice of me. Friendly, cordial even. .

"I'm not Achmed. @!#$@" He retorts. Looking angry, not hanging up the phone.

"Well then DUMBASS hang up and drive!!!"

worst phone\ car idiot I met this summer was a woman attempting a right onto a major road- while yaaking on her cell. She had to brake half into the turn as a truck passed 2 feet infront at around 40 mph. So she continues the turn and i'm now on her right, the car window is open and I can hear her STILL on the phone ( I guess near death doesn't scare some folks into hanging up.)

She is still yaaking " Bla, ya I just about had a accident back there, that's what the noise was.."
I yelled in the passenger widow loud enough for the caller to hear " Ya and you are going to have another one if YOU DON"T HANG UP THE PHONE!" Scared the crap outta her.

If I had been on left side, I'd probably grabbed the phone from her and chucked it onto the road.

I posted this a few months ago, seems relevant though...

I got hit by some b**** in BMW, yapping on her cell phone a while back. I put a serious dent in her car and when I went down I roadrashed on the pavement (I knew I should've shaved my arms too ). Well, guess what she does. She drives off.
I caught up to her at the next light, reached into her car, grabbed that f***ing cell phone out of her hand and smashed it into the pavement. I screamed "Don't you EVER do that again, you f***ing ****!" (that's the C word), and rode off into the sunset, scratched handlebar, bleeding arms, et al.

Nasty luck, lucklust..sorry, the witch I met I'm sure wouldn't have hung up even if she nailed a rider:

"Sorry Brenda, somethings come up, I hit a kid on a bike a need to call my lawyer, can I put you on hold a sec....Hi Babs? can you have Tony give me dingle, I may have killed someone, thanks..Sorry Brenda, you know...geez, the kids still moving, Brenda darling, sorry, i'm going to put you on hold again, I know, I know, but the kids still moving..I really should phone him an ambulance..I know Brenda..I know, I know I care too much, I know....yes, yes I called Tony already, Oh wait, the kid has stopped moving..go on..."

Love the story.

Just recently I had some I had some dude with what Forester would call a cyclist inferiority complex come up on my left, way too close (by which I mean I had the right third of the lane, my new best friend had the other 2/3 plus the median and a smidge on the other side), pass me at a not very fast relative speed, and shout "Rookie!" at me while doing so. Meanwhile, dude's yappy ass dogs are going nuts bouncing around the interior of the vehicle, he's yammering on his yellow Nextel, and I notice his Thule hanging off the back of the minivan.

Did I mention that I passed him at the green light, legally?

What a tool. Go threaten someone else you dimwitted jackass. With friends like these...

get used to it. nothing more can really be said with the mental state of the majority of the US and the need for larger vehicles. The ****ing country has become a fat, lazy, egocentric, joke. If Bush gets another 4, I am HIGHLY considering moving to Europe and calling myself Canadian.

Oh, I have no problem--well, I mean I do have a problem, but I've long ago accepted it as a fact of life--with people who pass too close or offer free advice Fine. But this moron thinks he's some super-smart cyclist offering me insights on the world while cruising by over the median on his cellie.

Agreed.

M****r F****r is clearly a more accurate name.

I once was at an intersection in Brooklyn and tried to make eye contact with a driver whom had me in an awkward position to avoid crashing. When we finally crossed eye's he yells out his window "WTF are you looking at!” I just ignored him and blazed outta there...and thought to myself how wonderful a $h*t-green scratch on his nice new Beemer would look. Looking back I wish I had just crashed my POS mtb right into his ride proving my point. :)

Four more years... I hear Toronto is a great biking city.

Cheers,

i've been thinking quite seriously about carrying around a pouch with paint pellets in it - you could tag a-holes like those pretty easily. i think you'd need to find an oil-based paint in order for the point to really be driven home, so to speak.

it seems like a friendlier way of saying 'f*&ck you!' than a huge dent with my chain lock, but the logistics of carrying around a pouch filled with paint balls has thus far prevented me from implementing such measures. let me know how it works out if you do it.

Nice comfy story aside. So I'm supposed to take that and not attempt to help people understand. So, the time I chased down a guy who right hooked me.. and he apologized profusely, and figured out that he wasn't really looking in his mirrors all that much. So I'm to take the possiblity of an accident or the like and go hide?

@#$@# that.

If I were to die in a situation like that.. I'd be burried with the love and respect of my family that I had died standing up for what is right.

Your little link is pretty far off the mark. A bump and someone get's beat to death. If I were to get bumped, I'd hunt the guy down, I'd get every thing strait. But I"m not out to kill anyone. You're mistaken that I'm ready to throw down. If you read it, I attempted to let the guy know in a peaceful way first. But then again, you knee jerked, like some car drivers do.

We're all human. But we are what we repeatedly do.

No, you don't make any sense, still. I still think you're trying to label me a racist. Trying, you just don't have the grapes to do it.

I called him Achmed because it was the first male name that came to mind that couldn't possibly be his name, such that he'd want to say "my name isn't Achmed". Nothing more, nothing less. Read into it all you want. If I called him Jesus, would you be on my case for blaspheme? If I called him Frank, would you claim I'm against the white man?

How does Bush control what one bad driver does? Why would you want to leave a country like America to go somewhere that's undoubtably worse? Some of the bad drivers deserve to be made aware there's other users on the road. Good for Mr. Karstens. I'm sure if the incident was bad enough to get him riled up it deserved a comment. End of story. I will admit it seems that everyone around here has forgotten whatever manners they ever knew. I blame it on the age we live in.

c) that time I went white water rafting with Burt Reynolds <shudders>
