Do we have to wait until the 18th before our orders are processed or will you assemble and ship as soon as you receive payment?

Yishun Stefano
10-02-10, 06:04 AM
For the groupbuy we have to wait to reach a quantity of wheelset. I think in 3/4 days we'll have enough order (I've got already some orders...) . So I think first order will be processed from next 5/6 days... Then you enter the normal waiting list . First come first served

Do all the clinchers have a lowered brake track?

Yishun Stefano
10-03-10, 03:50 PM
All clincher have a lowered brake area, but is sligthly lowered, for making a better durable rim. There is no negative effect in braking.

Stefano,

Is the braking area treated with any special covering to decrease the rate of wear/heat buildup, etc.?

Yishun Stefano
10-04-10, 03:10 AM
We use a special resin that let the wheels to be very durable. Thousands of customers can agree :)

Can those who have ordered, please post in this thread? I don't know about other perspective buyers, but I feel more comfortable putting in an order if others have done so already.

I haven't ordered yet, but think I'm about 90% of the way to being convinced and probably will give it a go later this week. Also still trying to make up my mind about whether I want to try carbon clinchers or take the tubular route which sounds like best way to go with carbon wheels but is unfamiliar territory for me. All the experiences people have posted over the RoadBikeReview forums have been pretty positive: http://forums.roadbikereview.com/showthread.php?t=216501

I am very tempted to order a set of the 50mm clinchers. The price is great and the product looks very nice. The only thing holding me back is the delivery time which I understand can not be helped. However, for the price I'm thinking it will be worth the wait.

LowCel, just curious why the 50s and not the 60s? i'm considering 1 or 2 sets, and if I go with just 1 set I was thinking the 60s would make a better all-round wheelset (404s are 58mm after all). Do you already have other aero wheels or are you looking at the 50s as a do-it-all?

I am looking at the 50's as a do-it-all (to a point, still plan on running my pt most of the time) and there is a lot of climbing in my area. I don't mind the weight penalty so much between the 38mm and the 50mm but the difference between the 50mm and the 60mm is pretty high. Plus after racing 404's for a couple of years I remember how much cross winds sucked with them. I'm thinking the 50's might be a little easier to handle, especially since I am no longer racing.

Stefano, how does warranty/guarantee work, and how long is it?
Warranty is for 1 year.
If there is any problem (lsmaller than 1% till now) that cannot be repaired, we change our wheel sending a new one from our factory. If the problem is not clear, we ask to send back the wheel, customer has to pay for shipping cost

I'm in on a set of 50mm Clinchers. Still deciding on spoke and hub colors...

I have the white/orange BMC SL 01 and the options I was thinking about are:
1) Black hubs, spokes and nipples
2) White hubs, white spokes, black nipples
3) Black hubs, white spokes, black nipples

Can't decide!!

How's everybody choosing to pay? I'm partial to Paypal as I'm disinclined to give details about my bank account, and I've never used Western Union. Wondering if it's worth avoiding the $30 hit for Paypal (6%) to pay another way.

I'll only use Paypal for such things...

Stefano,
couple more questions, thanks for your time so far -
1) what's the rim width of the tubulars/what width tire is recommended?
2) Chosen's website indicate the freehub is interchangeable between campy/shimano - do you sell them? or know where we can get them?

thanks

i'm now leaning towards 38mm clinchers for everyday, and 60mm tubs for race day..

Slynkie:

you can use all tubular tyres, usually best solution for confort and performance is 22/23 mm IMHO.
Is possible to change free hub, We sell it if you want. To have both you have to pay 15$ more

so I ended up paying via paypal. can't wait to get them! now to buy tires + glue..

for some reason the Western Union website wouldn't accept my transfer on the final step (after entering CC information). My transfer limit it displayed in my profile was well above what I was attempting, so I don't quite understand...anyone know if they have additional transfer limits to China or something? strange.

Thinking about a pair of 50 clinchers for the cross bike, anyone have experience riding these in the mud or mounting 32 knobbies to them?

My understanding is that these pictures show how the wheels are packaged for shipment, and the condition they are arriving in.
Reports are that the boxes are arriving with exposed, unprotected hubs poking through the box, as well as badly torn and battered boxes.

Please explain the procedure if the wheels arrive damaged. Specifically, who is responsible for doing (and paying) for what.

Thank you in advance.

Redmasi, till today we had no problem with wheels shipped. If the box is damaged, wheels are not belive me. We ship hundreds of wheels monthly all over the world. If you check in forums no one had problems with that.
The photo you posted, I received directly by the owner (i sold wheels to him few months ago) and he can confirm that wheels were perfect.

Anyway, if there is any problem my company and me of course, are ready to help our customer to be completely satisfacted.

these wheels look interesting. I certainly don't need these, but am turning 30 this month. hmmmmmm. toughest part would be deciding on 38 or 50 mm...

personally i think it was kind of a d$*@ move to post those big pics here. you could have just asked the question and pointed to the RBR thread - which btw, I believe explained as Stefano has that the wheels were totally fine.

slynkie, I'm sorry that you feel that way. But I'm not sure why you think it was a 'kind of a d$*@ move' (???).

The fact is:

1) The pictures are real, and both informative and relative to everyone/anyone interested in this group buy.
2) The pictures do not represent a single, one-time incident. Other purchasers state the package arrived in the same condition.
3) If indeed the hubs had poked thru the box and were completely exposed (in more that one report), it is very conceivable that they could be damaged.
4) If the wheels arrive damaged, I am interested in how the company intends to resolve the issue.

For example: If I am responsible for covering the shipping of the damaged product back to the manufacturer in China, and then I am responsible for covering the shipment
of the replacement product from China back to me, I would like to know that upfront.

Furthermore, I believe if YOUR wheels arrive damaged, you will no longer feel this is a &^%$% question.

slynkie
10-08-10, 03:00 PM
whatever dude. re-read my post, i have no issue with your questioning or pointing out other people's previous experiences, etc. my comment was directed solely at the large pictures which:

weren't your wheels. point people at RBR and let them judge for themselves, from the original poster's info.
weren't necessary to properly communicate your question.
ignored the rest of the pictures the original poster shared, showing how nice the wheels looked and their condition.
you're a newbie troll.

yea, i can make a list too. woo.

slynkie
10-08-10, 03:18 PM
ok, back on track here, sorry for the digression.

i'm also interested in the answer to oldfolksmashers's question. i've mounted 28mm 'cross tires on my road clinchers before, never tried anything as wide as 32 on them though. Stefano, do you know if anyone is using any of these wheels for 'cross?

Yishun Stefano
10-08-10, 03:33 PM
For Slynkie: really I don't know anyone using for 'cross.

For Redmasi: your concern is reasonable, but believe me not motivated. As I told you we ship a lot of boxes everyday (a lot indeed), and for our business is very important that products will arrive in perfect state. If we were not sure of our packaging we would change it. So trust me there is no reason to be worried.
Anyway as I told you before, Yishun is always ready to find a solution. After all: we make no advertisement in newspaper, in TV, in Internet... the only important thing for us are our customers!!!

redmasi
10-08-10, 03:45 PM
Slynkie... Let me guess. You've never ordered squat directly from a manufacturer in China... Let alone worked in China as a consultant for several different Chinese manufacturers
for the past 15 years. I have.

Stefano... I'm sorry, but you have not answered my question. What is your policy if the wheels arrive damaged?

Yishun Stefano
10-08-10, 03:56 PM
If wheels arrive damaged, we ship a new one free of charge.
If using our wheels there is any problem about our wheels, we change it free of charge.
Only if we are not sure about the problem we ask to send back in our factory (customer pay for shipping) and then we send a new wheel o repaired one.
