Mountain Biking - Anticipation

I dont think Im going to be able to sleep for a week. I just got back from a different bike shop, and all of this weeks problems are behind me. They have agreed to sell me a 2004 Kona Stinky Dee-Lux for $200 (yes, $200!) along with the ETSX-70 as a trade in. It comes in next wednesday and I pick it up thursday. One of the best days of my life right here.

The leverage screw just got to me. The HFX Nines piss me off and I finally decided to buy some new brakes.

Nah, I was about to, but I just wasn't diggin' it. I know the P.2 is way better than the shred, but I just like the shred better. I am not doing any thing serious (yet) enough to really make me wish I got the more expensive bike :o

So does everyone on ridemonkey. But oh well. I decided to save some cash. I'm getting the Mags at $150 per brake. He wants the nines for his beater bike (the old rockhopper i believe).

You will like the Stinky. It took me 3 years before I broke mine but I also weigh at least twice as much as you. I have been riding Konas for 8 years or so and have always had good things to say about them. I do/did have others but Kona is my main ride.

But I actually have them working good right now, they work better than hfx 9's on a good day. I break too many brakes to constantly run hydros come when I'm home in NJ I will run hydros.

i remember reading about some people having the same problem with the lever adjustment screw coming loose on their mags...

Dont worry Kona....but wait, are you running Hayes Mechs? I still love my Avid mechs....setup right, they rule. The lever pull is so smooth, with hardly any tension. But ran a Hayes Mech for the Sunapee DH.....and boy did I hate it...not to mention I couldnt stop at the bottom.

Yes I am running hayes mechs during the fall winter and spring, then I put the mags back on. Will probably put a hydro on the front soon and just leave the rear as a mech and the only purpose for a rear brake is slow the bike down, which this does a good job of.

Or maybe you could just loctite them right, or maybe trust the crazy mechanic that lives in a red house, and has a nice bedroom :D
