I recently bought a deuter hydro 2.0(Litre) and also have a water bottle attached to my bike (normal size, 600ml or so)
I usually ride for about 2 - 3 hours, just wondering how much water you guys use when you ride. There was a deuter hydro 3.0(Litre) but it only came in one colour and i like orange! :p But i dont know whether i should have got the larger capacity.
So... what size?

Really depends on how hot it is and how hard I'm riding. I've drained my 2 liter camelback in less than an hour or sometimes I'll barely drink at all. In my experiences 2 liters has always been enough for me, but I don't ride on super long trips or anything.

i have a 3 litre camel, and i dont really fill it up all the way, i would have been happy with a 2L and my bottle...
I live in a desert and finish a 2L camelpak in less then 3 hours of riding on a hot day. If its overcast the water lasts longer.

on a normal 25mile ride I just bring along two water bottles. On rides that are 30+ miles I take my camelbak.
dang the most i ride is approx 12 miles. :( put me to shame

I feel the same way, but mine is about 10...I feel like such a wuss in this forum
It all depends on the weather... in the TX heat I would fill two water bottles and my 70oz Camelback when we did our murderous 30/30 rides, which were 30mi of intermediate/expert singletrack and then a 30mi road ride on our MTB's. I slept good those nights. But water, yeah, you can never have too much of it.
Where in texas do you ride? I live in Far west texas on the border of new mexico and ride on the Franklin Mountians.
I used to ride Cameron Park in Waco (near Dallas)... we went to the collegiate nationals at Angelfire, NM last year though... very beautiful area, but the altitude wiped out our team. I was thanking God that I was just a mechanic and didn't have to ride... I was out of breath from getting out of bed in the morning. :p

when I rode the Poto (17.5 miles), I took my 50oz Camelback plus a water bottlefull, and I had no water when I was finished. I used some to help clean a wound I got on the trail, so I would say that I use the whole Camelback plus half of the water bottle.
I have a 100 oz./3l water bladder and a 20oz bottle and it seems sufficient for up to 4 hours worth of riding. I also try and plan my routes to intersect places where I can refill at water stops if I can.

I usually just take 2 600ml coke bottles for about 4 hours. its probably not as hot here as it is elsewere though.

I would say, I don't actually feel thirsty for a 36 km ride. MAybe 500ml is enough. But that was last winter. Heh.

3 Liters for a 2 hour ride, but I tend to drink a lot.

Three liters with 2 tbl spoons ERG/ltr will just last for 24 miles of single track for a morning August ride in N Florida Gulf Coast Area. The more I ride, the further I seem to go on the same amount of water.

Recommended is 1 litre for each hours riding in hot conditions. This will keep you hydrated, but I find that my 1.5 litre camelback is heavy enough as it is so freqquent stops to fill it up is necessary. Did a 100 miler offroad in June, on a warm day, and forced myself to keep hydrated with the 1 litre per hour as suggested, and my pee never showed a sign of yellow in it, and no bonking or feeling sick through lack of hydration over 11 hours riding. Look at your pee, and this will indicate if you are drinking enough. Incidentally did a 3.5 hour ride last Sunday, quite a cool day, and didn't empty the camelback over the ride.

lol incedentaly sumhuman, gatorade doesnt really hydrate you more than water...cause essentially that whoole "electrolyte" Bul**** thing is like them adding sodium to the water, and a little bit of sugar...gatorade keeps you no more hydrated than water, its just better for your system cause it has more energy in it than water due to sugar and soduim..
just thought id share that for you guys....btw the other "ade" drinks are the same
and bring like a Pb and jam sandwhich on yer ride, if you get tired eat it, pb and jam has tons or energy in it
