Introductions - Hi

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello!
I've been "commuting"(where I live we just call it "riding my bike to work") for the last 4 years, weather permitting, on my old 1998 Specialized Globe. I have decided to get into riding more because I need more cardio and biking is a fun way to do it. A few weeks ago I bought a 2010 Gary Fisher Wahoo. It's a huge improvement over the Globe but the differences will take some getting use to.

Hopefully I won't annoy you too much with my noob questions.
:)

Welcome! I 'ride to work,' too. We call it that because it really can be a great 'ride,' filled with adventure and mishaps and excitement and cardiovascular exercise!

How long is your ride to work? Are you one of many in your town or do you seldom see another biker?

I see you are from Kansas - I have never been but I know it has a reputation for having a rolling landscape and not too many big hills. There must be some great riding through beautiful prairie and farmland.

One piece of advice: make sure you lock up your bike whenever you leave it alone in a public place.

Again! Welcome.

My work is only a mile away so it's just as fast for me to ride as it is to drive. Not much of a commute but it all adds up I guess. I don't see many other people riding to work for the reasons I do but occasionally People will ride to work if they have had their drivers license taken away because of DUIs. lol

There is a lot of awesome riding around here. Two minutes of riding and I'm in the country. Here is a link to a friends blog that has a lot of beautiful pictures of his riding adventures. He's way more advanced than I am so it'll be awhile before I try to ride with him but hopefully someday. He is also a professional photographer so the pics are gorgeous.
