Fifty Plus (50+) - Furnace Creek 508 going on this weekend

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

508 miles 48 hours. I would love to do this one day, even if was only as a 4 man relay team.

BF member Vireo is there but I'm not sure who else. Last year at least 6 BF members did the ride solo, including 50+ member Biker395. Last year they had the worst winds in the history of the event, and Biker395 wrote an incredible story about it. I hope this year is better for the riders.

I read about the winds last year. It kind of scars me about my ride at the end of the month. I'll try to look up Biker395's report.

I see Vireo finished in around 40 hours, close to last year's time. My clubmate David Jones, who I think is 63, also finished in a similar time. Of course, he has also finished RAAM twice since he turned 60.
Didn't see a lot of other BF members like last year, I'll check the final results later.
This year it was the heat instead of the wind that was a problem.

Here is my friend Jim, racing in the classic division. Clips and straps are required.

Thanks for the pictures and congrats to your friends.
If I make it through this double century I'll think about working up to the 508

Is this going to be your first double? I've never done one but if you listen to Rick@OCRR they are no big deal. He would tell you that you can make it if you just stay within yourself, I think.
Hoping you have a great ride!
