So I just picked up this bike for $300 to use for parts/components. I'm wondering what this frame is worth? It's definitely made very beautifully and has excellent Tange #2 touring. It's raining for a few days here so I couldn't get that Metallic Beige paint job under the sun, but it shines very nicely under sunlight. As you can see it has hand done pin-striping around the lugs, top tube, and fork along with the chrome lugs. It is in excellent shape, the 'Centurion' sticker on the downtube has a few chips, the 'our' on the Pro-Tour on the right chain stay is faded, and other than that there is some minor scratches on the top tube. It has braze-ons for racks/fenders front/rear with all the original hardware in all braze-ons.

The original Dia-Compe 'G' center-pull brakes with original brake pads look brand new, not to mention have VERY powerful and linear braking power. The originally Kusuki Medallion 1200 stem is included along with the original Tange Industries headset, both in perfect condition. The crank shown will be removed with the bottom bracket. The original Winpista I-Gin handlebars are included as well, although my little brother didn't want to ask me how to take them out properly and scratched the hell out of one side. :notamused: Original Suntour shifters cable holders (for top and bottom) on the downtube are included along with dia-compe cable clamps on the top tube.

Now the guy I bought it from said it was a 1984, but it definitely isn't and appears to be made the late 70's from my research. I've attached a picture of the serial number, if anyone can figure that out that would be great.

So whatcha guys think? How much will this setup will run for?

I DO have all the original components, Suntour cyclone derailleurs, sunshine pro-am hubs laced to Aray 27" wheels with suntour free-wheel/5-speed cassete, ORIGINAL Conti-Sport 1000 tires, sr laprade seat post, selle italia seat, sr apex triple crank, and suntour bar end shifters. Although I really don't want to part with the components I must ask, how much do you think the complete bike would go for? Thanks in advance everyone.:)

Looks like early 1980s to me. Headbadge in 1970s was different, and that looks like a 1980s Champion decal as well.

Look up the date codes on original components at the vintage Trek site. 1984 sounds close to me.

late 80's early 90's to me (at least the frame)-vertical dropouts/$300 is about right for the complete bike. More to be gained parting out I should think.

That is a beautiful frame and I have to ask what better frame to use the components on?

The Champion sticker is the same one as was used on my '83 Nishiki Int'l. ( I can't say for how long it was used for though. )

Definitely pre-1984. The 1984 Centurion catalog is online, folks—very easy to figure that much out.

The lack of mid-fork eyelets combined with the brakes put this at least a year or two earlier.

Thanks for the help guys.

Auchen it is indeed a BEAUTIFUL frame, but unfortunately is way too big for me. I'll be putting the components on a 1981 Univega Specialissima. :D

Hi Bicycle Funk. If you decide to sell the Centurion frame, I'd be interested in buying it... if it isn't already spoken for, and you don't mind shipping. I sent you a PM too. Thanks!
