finally built up the bike of my dreams!
i also upped my gear ratio. i was riding 44/16 for the longest time and decided to up it to 47/16. my dominant knee is KILLING me. is this something that will pass as i adjust to the new ratio? I've got a 17t cog I can put on too.

Have ya messed with saddle height? That's step 1 to help your knees.

I would expect more knee pain due to moving to a higher gear, rather than lower.....

Those handlebars look horribly uncomfortable. Otherwise nice bike.

They are. I am putting on some pursuits soon.
I am the 3rd or 4th owner of this frameset, it gets around. One of the owner's drilled it for a front brake, so looks like I'll be able to ride it all Winter.

If that is indeed the perfect saddle height for you, then I suspect that one of your legs is slightly shorter than the other.

i don't understand all these things about front brakes in winter riding. Winter is the time i don't really use my front brakes.

Without a front brake in the rain, I have to ride significantly slower to ensure I have time to stop. I'll feel pretty jack-ass having a front brake on an njs frame but hey, its already drilled and safety>cool points

under slippery road conditions (rain/snow/loose dirt/gravel), avoid too much front brake usage as front wheel skid are..... not fun.
rain conditions, the resistance between brake pad and rim becomes slippery thus taking longer to stop.

note, i'm not saying brakes aren't necessary. They are good. Just be careful using it in wet conditions :)
