I'd love to see Tom Boonen making a come back (from injury) and taking the top position 10 years after first winning the race as a junior.

The nerve of you asking about RACING in the Professional Cycling forum! This is supposed to be just about DRUGS!!!

Seriously - my thanks for the post. Do people in NA know there are races after the Worlds? Or are folks just now worried about the jersey presentation that will show rainbows and that UGLY Garmin "argyle"?

I think this is a very hard year to handicap Paris Tours. The Worlds course took a lot to the big guy sprinters to task as they all had a good chance unlike most years when the Worlds are on Continental Europe. My sense is a lot of guys left a lot of themselves down in AU.

But I always like a guy like Gilbert for this type of race. Boonen might have an edge as he doesn't have the racing in him as the others and if he was coming on form as some speculated in the lead up to the Worlds he could be looking to make something out of a lost season.

So I'd go with either of them. Again.

It turned out to be a rather different race this time. It was really hectic in the last 15km and in the end I was almost sure that Lequatre could bring it home. The main group couldn't organize any decent chase. Still, it ended in a group finish and it seemed to me that Freire just took it with pure power.A well deserved win for him.

From the start list I wasnt suprised when Freire won it, but he wasnt my prerace favorite.

I went to Milan San Remo this year. I was walking from the sign in back towards my car when I saw Freire - head was soft pedaling between all the spectators and actually came up alongside my son and used his head to balance himself.

I asked him - do you have it today ... he just smiled and winked.

I should remember that next time someone asks me who are my favorites ... always include Oscar ...
