Anyone have any thoughts on this bike or another bike to consider. I am new to mountain biking going to do easy local trails. Thanks.
Just a local test ride when my LBS starting carrying them. Seemed like a fantastic bike but my LBS ended up dropping Pivot, not sure why. I don't think you will be disappointed with the 429 but did you try any other bikes?

The only other bikes are the GF models witch are to big in small. I tried the stumpjumper FSR comp 29er medium witch i liked but i liked the pivot better.

One of my teammates has a Pivot. A little heavier than other bikes but that suspension is the sex. He kills on that bike.

pivot is an an awesome bike. if your trails are easy it might be overkill, but if you like the bike, get it.

if you are a novice mountain biker, the pivot will be plenty for you.

I too did one of the demo rides when the Pivot folks came to our local LBS. An awesome bike, though fairly pricy. I currently ride a Fisher SuperCaliber, but if I were looking to buy another FS bike the 429 would be way, way high on my shopping list.
Test ride one if you have the opportunity. The ride is sweet, and handles nicely. If you've got that kind of jack to put into your bike, you won't be disappointed and you'll definitely have a bike that would handle whatever you wanted to do...
Nice bike, but for the money you can get a lighter bike like a Tallboy

not sure, but i do know that a tallboy isn't a pivot, and the best thing about santa cruz is they have a great warranty program, which you may need to use. go with the pivot.
you are asking about a pivot, but if you want a 29er and are open to suggestions, i would recommend a turner sultan, but that is only because i really really really really love my turner 5spot and i really like turner as a company.
again...if you want a pivot 429, get it, it's a great bike.
