A buddy of mine sent this to me after he participated in the NC Senior games over the weekend. I knew many of you could relate, appreciate and get a chuckle.

Seriously a number of the participants from our TT's at the Speedway did very well.

North Carolina Senior Games, 2010

October 3, 2010, Raleigh North Carolina

A cadre of approximately eight riders from the Charlotte Motor Speedway Time Trials arrived at the N.C. Highway Patrol Training facility at approx. 8:30 a.m. for the start of the NCSG. The games consist of three races: 1 mile, 5 k & 10K. I was competing only in the 5K & 10K; the 1 mile kills my legs.

The games this year were sponsored by Flowmax BHP Treatment. I noticed that the porta-johns located at quarter mile intervals around the 2 mile+ circuit, were also provided by Flowmax. I guess they were for the participants that did not use this medication.

I believe I am correct that all of the competitors from the Speedway Time Trials were successful in qualifying for the National Senior Games, which will be held in Houston during June of 2011. I also qualified, but was less than satisfied with my over-all results. I competed in the 55 – 59 age, N. I., F.A. Division (N. I. – Non Incontinent, F.A. – Fully Ambulatory).

I won the 5K for my division, but was disqualified from the 10K. Apparently I did not finish the 10K! I stopped after the second of three laps. How do you lose count of laps in a three lap race? The NCSG organizers not only disqualified me, but also changed my category and eliminated the Non Incontinent designation since, as they stated, I had proven that I was mentally incontinent.

My wife told me it would be alright and we drove home to Huntersville in silence.

Q: Do you ride in the non-incontinent division?

A: Depends.

It's a good thing the sponsor wasn't FLEET.

No-- but I understand that TC did pretty well. He does live up in North Mecklenburg though.
