Commuting - Signs of Spring

All of the sap collection buckets have been taken done.
The spring peeper's are peeping.
The killdeer are back.
And I have my own private road on the trip home when the road is closed to motorized vehicles for the salamander crossing! (No, even though I walk my bike at the actual crossing area, I haven't seen a single one yet.)

I'm glad its spring somewhere. Its border line no good for skiing on good for riding here.

I too, am glad it's spring somewhere. It's still summer in Queensland. As far as I am concerned, summer is totally evil and disgusting!

Primroses, violets, blossom, gamboling lambs

Sorry to be ignorant, but what precisely is a gamboling lamb?

Lambs bounce like a full suspension bike. Their legs don't seem to move at all, but they hop up, sideways and onto things. I once came home from school to see my 16 yr old brother's head bobbing up and down behind a wagon. He looked quite daft. It wasn't until I came around the wagon that I saw that he was playing with one of the lambs, taking turns jumping.

Wow- Spring MUST be here- I wish my kids could experience that instead of the head bobbing associated with too much Nintendo- Spring is here, too, in NC as we just got back from a camping trip at the beach... missed several days of work and commuting but will get back to both soon enough...Happy Easter

We can't even get a road closed down here for people crossing!

Anyway, ;) spring is springing and trees are blooming!

Having half my commute through a wildlife sanctuary more than makes up for the half through industrial zone. This week has featured Woodcock mating displays, and record numbers of deer as the winter herds break up.

My parents in Estes Park, Colorado (I'm only trying to best you, here) get deer and elk strolling fearlessly through the front yard.

Enough. I'm getting nature-hungry...

I had a kangaroo following me around when I camped at Queen Mary Falls last year. I also get leeches...

OK, enough of those.

Daffodils and crocuses are up, thank goodness for that. I'm thinking of getting the skinnytire bike out. Another sign.

yeah, its been great

I've been lucky enough to watch the cherry blossoms in DC bloom over the past week or so (although now I have to be more careful when I ride because there are so many tourists around)

Passed through orchards white with plum blossom this morning. Saw banks of primroses, celandines, wood anenomes, violets, and in one sheltered spot saw the first of the years bluebells.

Yesterday was a special day for flowers on the Beechmont Range. The summer flowers are still out, of course (like the purple strand of hibiscus that is so common around here), but unusually for this time of year, the yellow winter flowers (not sure what they are) have come out. Suffice to say, Beechmont was alive with colour yesterday.

Why do I always forget the camera on rides like this? :cry:

I woke up this morning to find snow. Cold, wet snow. On the ground. All over the place. Yesterday, it was almost amusing. An April Fools joke, of sorts. Now it is just irritating. Stupid state.

On the flipsyde, I can still keep beer cold on my window sill, which is good, since I don't have a refrigerator yet.

Signs of spring in Sweden: I saw lots of tussilagos on my tour to the sea last sunday.

A sure sign of spring -- pine pollen everywhere here in Atlanta. Very few people are allergic to it, just a dusty, gritty nusiance (pollen counts over 2000 are common during this time).

Do you where a mask during this LBM?
