how do i lock out the rear derailer on my shimano tiagra 9 speed derailuer? i need to do it for a juniors race, and yes, i know a mechanic will be on scene to do it, but if it is not too difficult, i would like to try and do it myself. thanks

Hi
I assume you have to do this to limit the high gears you can use in a junior race. There are three small cross-head crews on your Tiagra derailleur. One is near the hanger on its own, leave it alone as it governs how close the mech is to the cogs(closer gives faster shifting).
There are two together at the rear, behind the top hinge. One has an 'L' (low) printed by the side of it, the other has 'H' for high. Screw in the 'H' one which will prevent you getting top gears. The more you screw it in, the less top gears you will get.
Do NOT mess with the 'L' screw. It is set to prevent your mech from shifting the chain into the spokes!!
